To enhance medication safety and clinical decision-making, Curenta introduces AI-Powered Health Alerts β a dynamic, configurable system that prompts for vital signs or clinical checks before medication administration when required. This ensures nurses are supported with real-time guidance, while maintaining full flexibility for overrides and documentation.
π§ How It Works:
A new βEnable Health Alertβ toggle is added to the [Add Medication] and [Edit Medication] screens.
When enabled, staff can define:
Which vital(s) to check (e.g., blood pressure, glucose).
Safe thresholds (e.g., SBP > 100).
Alert type:
π΄ Hard Stop β Blocks med pass without override.
π‘ Soft Warning β Advises caution but allows administration.
π During Med Pass:
Medications with active Health Alerts will prompt the user to enter the relevant vital(s).
The system displays a real-time safety message:
β Within range β proceed.
β οΈ Borderline β warning.
β Out of range β block with option to override.
Overrides require documentation and are fully logged.
π§ AI Guidance for Medications Without Alerts:
For medications without pre-configured alerts, Curentaβs AI may prompt:
βThis medication may require a BP check. Would you like to enter vitals?β
AI uses:
Medication class
Resident history (e.g., hypotension)
Similar past alerts
Users can choose to enter vitals or dismiss the prompt.
π Vital Checks May Include:
Vitals: Blood Pressure, Glucose, Pulse, SpO2, Temperature, Respiratory Rate
Clinical Observations: Pain scale, mental status, bleeding, infection signs
Lab Values: INR, Potassium, Renal function
Contextual Checks: NPO status, recent procedures, fall risk, weight
π Whatβs Logged:
Vital entered
Alert triggered (if any)
Action taken (administered, held, overridden)
User note (required for overrides)
Timestamp + MAR entry
With AI Health Alerts, Curenta ensures the right medication is administered at the right time β safely, accurately, and with clinical context.
